SEND & inclusion

Every child belongs at Ladybirds

We welcome children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and work in partnership with families to help every child feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

How we support children
diversity_3Inclusive, individual and built around partnership.

Our SENCO works alongside practitioners, families and other professionals to coordinate support around each child.

Our approach

Support that starts with knowing your child

Every child develops in their own way. We listen carefully, notice what helps, and adapt our environment and practice to remove barriers to learning and participation.

Review progress

We review what is helping, celebrate progress and agree the next steps with families.

A graduated approach

Plan, support, learn and review

We use an assess, plan, do and review cycle so that support remains purposeful and responsive.

1

Assess

Listen to the child and family, observe carefully and understand the starting point.

2

Plan

Agree clear, achievable outcomes and the support or adjustments that may help.

3

Do

Put support into everyday practice and make sure everyone understands their role.

4

Review

Look at what has changed, listen to families and decide what to try next.

Working together

Families are part of the plan

Parents and carers know their child best. We welcome your insight, keep communication open and work together on support and transitions.

Everyday partnership

Share what works at home, ask questions and talk with your child’s key person or SENCO. We will keep agreed strategies clear and practical for the team.

Transitions

When your child moves room, setting or on to school, we plan ahead with you and share the information that will help the next team understand your child.

Let’s start with a conversation

We are here to listen and help you understand the next step.
